The Personal Compass is a tool to discover your deep truths about who and what you are and the path to your fullest expression. It is a tool for your personal alignment, which creates a course for your energy to flow without resistance.
In this exercise:
You are building a connection from what you most foundationally believe about existence to what you believe about your own nature.
You are creating a connection from those beliefs to how you feel.
Then a connection from how you feel to your choices and priorities or your values.
Finally, you recognize actions that are in alignment with your beliefs about existence, your beliefs about yourself, your feelings and your values.
These connections enable you to find and re-find cohesion. The opposite of internal cohesion is internal resistance. When you have cohesion all of your power can move you forward. Without cohesion, the mind, body and emotions’ momentum is spent pushing against each other rather than working together.
Unconditional Beliefs
The more deeply and unconditionally our actions, feelings and beliefs are rooted, the more stability and power they have. The deepest roots come from our existential beliefs.
For example: If we believe in a loving higher power that guides all things and we build our identity and choices from there, when our circumstances challenge that it is not easily moved or invalidated. It’s a big and powerful truth that holds more power than even a major life event. In fact, major life events can inspire us to lean into that belief even more strongly.
Conversely, if we rely on a belief like “I deserve positive experiences because I’m a nice person,” that is easily uprooted and invalidated. It’s conditional on something that is subjective and vulnerable to shame and blame whenever it is challenged.
You could look at this exercise as a way of funneling the power and strength of your deepest convictions into every thought, feeling and action: Mind, Emotion, Body.
